Soccer 101 - Calling ALL Soccer is Futbol Readers!!

I want to be a voice of the soccer fan; both new and old, both die-hard and casual. But, perhaps, most important of all, I want to help grow the sport in America. If I can turn one person who has never given soccer a thought into a fan, then I will feel immensely rewarded.

So I call out to ALL Soccer is Futbol readers, I want your questions about the sport of soccer. If you are new to the sport or have been following for years. I’m here to help. Do you have a question about a rule, or all the rules of soccer? What about all these crazy foreign soccer leagues, how do they work? How many are there? Any question is a great question!

As the questions keep coming, I will compile all of the answers and add even more cool stuff to a new section here at Soccer is Futbol -  Soccer 101.

I look forward to hearing from all of you, comment with your questions or email me at soccerisfutbol@gmail.com

For the record, Gouda watched the Premiership games with me on Sunday and is now actively looking forward to the Champions League final next week.

It’s about time the US has a Futbol website. I’ve been to Europe and South America and can tell you that the Futbol fans over there are on a different level of intensity than anything seen in this country for any and I mean any other sport. It can be a little scary at times. My first exposure to soccer was in high school, 40 years ago. It is the greatest sport ever played. I think that an understanding of the game is key to building a fan base in this country and your site is doing just that.

Here’s a question: Why was the best ref in the history of futbol required to retire at age 45? Thanks and great site.
